Principle of PP Biaxial Geogrid


PP biaxial geogrid is made by a unique process of rearranging the long chain hydrocarbon molecules of the polymer into a straight line along the tensile direction, resulting in high tensile strength and low elongation. Its tensile strength is close to that of soft steel, which, together with the locking effect of the eyelets on the soil and the impedance effect, makes it significantly more effective in reinforcing the tensile capacity in soil than other reinforcing elements. In addition, it has an elongation of less than 10% and produces almost no creep. This shows that PP Biaxial Geogrids as reinforcement have better mechanical properties than ordinary geogrid products.


Features of PP Biaxial Geogrids


Firstly, PP Biaxial Geogrids have a low deflection and an ultimate elongation of less than 8%. Secondly, it has strong corrosion resistance and long service life. Acids, alkalis, and salts in the soil have almost no effect on it. Because the polypropylene polymer is resistant to UV radiation, it ages and oxidizes very slowly. Thirdly, the friction between it and the soil is high. The contact area between the PP Biaxial Geogrid and the soil is over 20-50%. At low strains, it can produce a high tensile modulus, and the longitudinal and transverse ribs act in synergy to provide a high inlaying effect on the soil. Fourthly, there are various types, both unidirectional and bidirectional, to meet the needs of different projects. The most important point is that it is easy to construct, with short construction times and low costs.

Because PP Biaxial Geogrid has high elongation, it ensures that it will not break under high tensile strength, thus ensuring that slope fill and spray-thin vegetation will not be washed away by rain. Secondly, the product is highly resistant to corrosion and aging, with a large proportion of the slope reinforcement material being exposed for long periods. A large proportion of the slope reinforcement material is exposed to light for long periods and the PP Biaxial Geogrid is UV resistant, so the finished plastic product will not become brittle and crack due to prolonged exposure to UV light, as is the case with life's plastic products. Thirdly, the welded joints are strong enough to withstand the weight of the soil and can be used at different heights depending on the construction environment.
